Polyterpene resins
Our polyterpene resins are based on alpha-pinene, beta-pinene and
d-limonene, all of which are derived from renewable and sustainable resources. Their unique properties make them effective polymer modifiers for a variety of end-use applications, including many high performance pressure sensitive tapes and labels, industrial adhesives, automotive adhesives, high temperature adhesives, and aerospace adhesives.
Alpha pinene-based products—Piccolyte® A resins
The most polar of the straight polyterpene resins, alpha pinene-based products are excellent tackifiers in pressure sensitive and hot melt adhesive systems using styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and styrene block copolymers S-I-S, S-B-S, and S-I-B-S. Other end uses include paints, coatings, caulks and sealants, investment castings, and waterproofing agents.
Beta pinene-based products—Piccolyte® S resins
Beta pinene-based resins are extensively used in pressure sensitive adhesives and other solvent-based adhesives. They are useful as tackifiers for natural rubber and other nonpolar elastomers as well as in nonadhesive applications such as precision investment castings.
d-Limonene-based products—Piccolyte® C resins
These resins derived from the citrus monomer
d-limonene are excellent polymer modifiers for block copolymers, butyl rubber, and polyisoprene rubber. They are primarily used as tackifiers for rubber-based, pressure sensitive and hot melt adhesive systems. They are also used in premium quality chewing gum compositions as well as can sealants.
Mixed pinene and modified polyterpene resins—Piccolyte® F and Piccolyte® HM resins
Modified polyterpene/hybrid resins are tackifiers for ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), acrylic, and thermoplastic block copolymers. They are excellent in non-woven adhesives, water-white, hot melt adhesives, and low-odor hygiene applications.
