Sustainability

Today society is faced with social, economical and environmental challenges that create unprecedented pressure on resource management. The implications for future generations are central to the concept of sustainability and have been a core part of Pinova operations for over one hundred years.

A Sustainable Foundation

Our facilities use cogeneration, with spent, extracted wood chips, as the primary fuel to generate all of our steam.

Renewable feedstocks are the foundation of our business and the basis of our long-term viability. Our products are made from natural and renewable feedstocks. We take unwanted natural by-products such as southern pine stumps, crude sulfate turpentine, and orange peel extracts from orange juice production, and use these as feedstocks in the creation of our unique high-value products.

In addition, our facilities use cogeneration, with spent, extracted wood chips, as the primary fuel to generate all of our steam and about 30% of our electrical requirements. This environmentally friendly energy reduces our consumption of non-renewable fuels such as diesel and natural gas.

A Sustainable Future

Corporate sustainability is a business objective that creates long-term consumer and employee value and has been central to our business since it was founded in 1911.

We formulate and act on strategies for sustainability through operational improvements, community consultation and ongoing employee engagement. We have a long-standing commitment to sustainable practices throughout the life cycle of our products - from development and manufacturing to distribution and ultimately disposal. We dedicate ourselves to the health and safety of the environment and the community and to the appropriate use of resources.

Resource Efficiency

We are committed to continuous improvement based on sound science, risk assessment, and benefit analysis.

Pinova and its employees, partners, and stakeholders are continuously searching for improvements in our operations that can provide a systematic and positive impact on the environment. We are committed to continuous improvement based on sound science, risk assessment, and benefit analysis.

We seek to improve resource utilization, energy efficiency, and waste minimization practices. New techniques and approaches to feedstocks, handling, processing, energy usage, recycling and waste redirection can ultimately reduce costs, increase profits, and create a more sustainable business.

Pinova regards sustainable business as good business.
